Wetlands are considered the most biologically diverse of all ecosystems. They provide habitat for a great number of water and land species. In China wetlands can be found around the country`s vast land. They are also an important environment to various species especially like migratory birds. Here collected are some the most important wetlands in China.
1. Dajiu Lake Wetland of Shennongjia
Dajiu Lake Wetland of Shennongjia is located on the boundary between Sichuan and Hubei provinces. It is the highest and largest alpine wetland.
2. Honghe Hani Terrace Wetland
Honghe Hani Terrace Wetland Park in the Ailao Mountains at Honghe has a history of one thousand years and reveals a terraced-field culture created mainly by the Hani people from generation to generation. It has been in good running for over thousand years. This artifical park reflects the terrace’s interactive influence relationship with local ecological effect from the core of its hydrological element.
3.Panjin Wetland
Located in the southwest of Liaoning Province, Panjin Wetland Park is a central belt of the Liaohe Delta, neighbored by Liaodong Bay in the south with a total coastline of about 118 Km long. There is a marvelous spectacle on earth, “The Red Beach”.The beach gets its name from its appearance. In autumn, this weed turns flaming red, and the beach looks as if it was covered by an infinite red carpet that creates a rare red sea landscape.
4. Xixi National Wetland Park
Xixi National Wetland Park is located at the west part of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. The park is densely crisscrossed with six main watercourses, among which scatter various ponds, lakes and swamps. XiXi Wetland has a history of more than 1,800 years and an abundant cultural heritage.
5. Mingcui Lake National Wetland Park
Mingcui Lake National Wetland Park in Ningxia Hui Autonomous is cosidered China’s Best Wetland in Ecological Conservation. The park and five other wetland attractions emerged out of nearly 700 national and regional wetland candidates that took on a comprehensive review in the campaign “Find the Most Beautiful Wetland in China.”
6. Xinghu Lake Wetland Park
Xinghu Lake Wetland Park, situated in Zhaoqing city in Guangdong province, was the first national nature reserve and one of the first world biosphere reserves in the country. From lakes to vast virgin forests, from wetlands to sub-tropical jungles, the area has multiple landforms creating a biological ecosystem that abounds in plants and animals. It is home to around 100,000 birds of nearly 200 species.
