Top 10 Most Inspiring Chinese Pop Songs

Inspirational songs always have power to encourage, to motivate, and to cheer up people. With hundreds of great Chinese songs there, it is very challenging to narrow it down the list. Finally, I picked a few of my favorite inspiring Chinese songs, in no particular order. And I hope you like them.

1. Zheng Zhihua 郑智化  –  “Sailor” 《水手》

“Sailor” is a wide-spread and inspirational song. It has inspired many people who encounters setbacks and frustrations on the road of their business and life, giving them power to fight. We can say this song motivate a generation of people on the spiritual level.

2. Beyond – “Glorious Days” 《光辉岁月》

“Glory Days” is one of the representative songs by Hong Kong rock band “Beyond”. In 1990, Beyond went to Kenya and witnessed the hard life of African people stricken by war and famine. When returning home, the band’s lead vocal Wong Ka Kui read the story about Nelson Mandela in prison in newspaper, whose experience greatly touched Wong’s heart. In his view, Mandela’s spiritual connotation is about struggle and hope, and this coincides with Beyond’s struggle and hardship in Hong Kong; thus Wong created the song “Glory Days”.

3. Liu Huan 刘欢 – “Start All Over Again” 《从头再来》

The song was created for laid-off workers, aiming to encourage them not to be overwhelmed by hardships and failures and cheer them up to start a new life. This is one of the most classic songs by Liu Huan.

4. Jay Chou 周杰伦 – “Snail”《蜗牛》

This song was created before Jay Chow rose to fame. The lyrics describe a snail carrying a heavy shell climb step by step to find his own piece of heaven. Because the lyrics is quite positive, the song was selected as patriotic song for high school students in Shanghai.

5. Wang Feng  汪峰 – “Fly Higher”《飞得更高》

Wang Feng wrote this song for himself. He said he hoped to be better day by day and he would keep this kind of idea in mind every day.

6. Mavis Hee 许美静 – “Storms Always Give Way to the Sun” 《阳光总在风雨后》

This is Mavis Hee’s representative song and it also became Chinese women’s volleyball team song.

7. Angela Chang 张韶涵  – “Invisible Wings” 《隐形的翅膀》

Whether for melody or lyrics, the song will give people hope, warmth and power, This ballad genre song makes many listeners emotionally moved and encourage them to be strong to face life.

8. Zhang Yusheng 张雨生 – “My Future Is Not A Dream” 《我的未来不是梦》

This is a fast-paced inspirational work. The song encourages young people to pursue their dreams with unremitting efforts, reflecting indomitable fighting spirit.

9. Hacken Lee 李克勤 – “Red Sun” 《红日》

The song belongs to Hacken Lee’s same title album and is regarded as a classic inspiring song.

10. Richie Ren 任贤齐  – “Never Back Down” 《永不退缩》

This song has a special meaning, every time when listen to it, it always arouses people’s morale, motivating people to struggles and move forward.
