Apple found to grow up in poisonous plastic bags

Fuji apples from Yantai, Shandong, known for their glossy, crispy skin, are sold nationwide, and Qixia and Zhaoyuan, two dominant supplier cities of Shandong, have a total annual apple output of over one billion kilograms. But these beautiful and delicious-looking apple will do harm to your body, for these apples are grown in unmarked plastic bags containing a poisionous powder.

A recent investigation reveals that a large number of local apple growers in Yantai City, east China`s Shandong Province have been wrapping their crops in unmarked plastic bags containing a mysterious white “medicinal” powder.

Both the contents of the drug bags and the identity of their anonymous distributor are closely guarded industry secrets, but local farmers and other individuals from agricultural cooperatives have now admitted to reporters that “everyone knows” they’re packing thiram (a dangerous, prohibited fungicide) and melarsoprol (a toxic organic compound of arsenic). 

This kind of plastic bags are widely used in local fruit farm.  

The fruit will be wrapped in these bags until maturity, local farmers and other individuals from agricultural cooperatives have now admitted to reporters that “everyone knows” they’re packing thiram.  

In March this year, the local government had seized more than 200 million bags and prohibitted the use of the bags. But a large number of bags are still produced and used in local apple farms.

The apples wrapped in poisionou plastic bags are smoother than normal ones.  

These bags are produced in secret small workshops.
